Travaglini Gattinara
Gattinara is a small town and the heart of the wine region of the same name in Alto Piemonte, at the foot of Monte Rosa. An exceptional place with a unique terroir, especially predestined to produce Nebbiolo wines of great complexity, elegance and freshness. As one of Italy's oldest denominations of origin, Gattinara was recognised as a DOC in 1967, before being elevated to DOCG in 1990.
The natural position of the hills at the foot of Monte Rosa lets the vineyards face south-east to south-west. Behind them rises the imposing Alpine range, which acts as a protective barrier against the colder northerly winds. A soil of volcanic origin, meanwhile, speaks of the close bond between our wines and the earth, the rock and the subsoil. Gattinara is the only wine region in the world where Nebbiolo is grown on volcanic soil.
The cellar is the beating heart of the estate — the place where the wine rests, changes and develops. Each vineyard is vinified separately to differentiate the quality and highlight the particular characteristics that distinguish it. For this reason the choice of the wood, its toasting and the attention to every single detail are all deliberately aligned to support the natural evolution of our wines and to preserve the organoleptic profile of the grapes.
