Tenuta Mara
Since 2000 · biodynamic
The story of Tenuta Mara, or the Mara Wine Estate, began on the day Giordano Emendatori decided to fulfil his great passion, a passion for wine, and to devote himself to planning and building a winery, which he named after his wife Mara: "She has always been an important support to me through all the adventures of my life."
After buying the land in the year 2000, five years had to pass before they could plant the vineyard: seven hectares, exposed to the gentle sun of Romagna. An area — next to the mountain village of San Clemente — dedicated to a great Italian grape variety: Sangiovese.
The music of Mozart and Gregorian chants are not the only sounds that accompany guests as they walk through the rows of the biodynamic Tenuta Mara. The ear is in fact stimulated by the song of many birds, which play a key role in maintaining the biological balance of the ecosystem that underlies the practice of biodynamic farming.
The vineyard covers about 7 hectares and is named after the three grandchildren of Giordano and Mara Emendatori: Andrea, Indira and Achille. Everything is cultivated strictly according to the rules of biodynamic agriculture.
