Pasini San Giovanni
Italy's northernmost region, where vines and olive trees mingle with cedars, caper bushes, palms and lemon trees to form a kind of Mediterranean "enclave" amid the Alpine foothills, reflects its balance and integrity in the wines Valtènesi Chiaretto and Valtènesi. The one is a rosé, the other a red, both perfect expressions of the Valtènesi valley's vocation for viticulture.
In the loamy soil of this ancient region, rich in history and precious architecture, the native white grape Turbiana — from which the white wine Lugana is made — has been growing since the first centuries after Christ. The robust loamy soil, the unique microclimate created by the nearby lake at the foot of the Alps, and the special DNA of the native grape make Lugana a white wine of rare balance: fresh, spicy, mellow and at the same time wonderfully deep.
Our vineyards stretch around the Cascina San Giovanni farmstead and the winery in Raffa di Puegnago: about 15 hectares of loose, permeable soils of morainic origin with a high stone content. The Cap del Priù and the Villa Romana vineyard are among the first crus, whose vineyard areas were planted predominantly with Groppello and Marzemino vines in the mid-1970s.
