Podere Il Castellaccio
"a sip from the past, with an eye on the future" — that is how our company philosophy can be summed up in eleven words, telling the story of our surroundings, which through the reintroduction of old vine shoots is inseparably linked to the tradition of winegrowing in Tuscany and, in our case, to viticulture in the Bolgheri area. Valénte and Dinostro are the concrete result of our project of returning to our roots.
The grapes, grown exclusively by natural methods, are monitored with great precision and care throughout all their vegetative phases and with particular attention during ripening, and are made into wine in our cellar using our own cultured yeast.
Dinostro is a pure Sangiovese, while Valénte is an expressive wine that reflects the history of the Tuscan vines: 70% Sangiovese and 30% Ciliegiolo, Foglia Tonda and Pugnitello, varieties that had disappeared from the local vine stock. Both wines mature for about a year in 20-hectolitre casks.
To bring new vitality to a vineyard with a history of more than forty years was our dream, and it has been realised in our present project. Our vineyards are the visible proof of a deeply rooted tradition. Because of their high quality, the grape varieties mentioned above are at the heart of our project and are the subject of reintroduction and revaluation.
